Ash Wednesday Recollection, 22nd February, 2023

Being Ash Wednesday, the Seminary organized a day of recollection for the community to help us prepare ourselves for the season of Lent. The preacher for the recollection was Fr Bineesh, a Dominican priest based in the Retreat House at Igatpuri. The recollection comprised two talks. The first talk at 9 am dealt with the topic of Lent being a time of introspection. Then the Blessed Sacrament was exposed from 11.30 am to 1 pm for personal adoration, ending with benediction. During this time, the brothers had the opportunity to go for confession. There were eight priests available for confession. The second talk at 4.30 pm dealt with the topic of Lent being a time to grow in Discipleship. During the Eucharistic celebration at 7.15 pm, Father in his homily highlighted the importance of disciplining our personal lives so that they match with our public lives as well, both of which are to be lived according to God’s commands. At the end of the Eucharist, Br. Joshua proposed the vote of thanks, thanking Father for giving us valuable insights on the topic of Lent through scriptural insights and sharing of personal experiences.
